Helping workers maximise their independence is a crucial part of the recovery process. WorkSafe can cover the reasonable costs of household help services required due to a work-related injury or illness. Typically, the need for these services will decrease as the worker recovers, and they are considered an interim or short-term arrangement unless long-term assistance is necessary due to the nature of the injury or illness.

Guidelines for Approved Service Providers

Providers of household help services must be registered and approved by WorkSafe. To register as a provider, you will need:

 

  • A current Australian Business Number (ABN) or a Victorian business registration
  • Current public liability insurance with a minimum of $5 million coverage
